Cancellations on Brouz, simply explained
Plans change. Here is what happens to your money if you cancel a booking on Brouz, at every stage.
What you get back, and when
| When you cancel | What you get back |
|---|---|
| Before the provider accepts | Nothing to refund — you have not paid yet |
| After they accept, before you pay | Nothing to refund — you have not paid yet |
| After you pay, before work starts | The full order amount |
| Just after work starts | The full order amount, for a short time |
| After that | What the listing’s cancellation terms say |
The service charge you pay at checkout is not refunded, even when you get the full order amount back.
The three kinds of cancellation terms
Each provider chooses the terms for their listing. You can see them on the listing before you book:
- No refund after work starts. Once the short time after work starts is over, nothing is refunded.
- Partial refund. You get back a fixed part of the order amount — for example, half.
- Pro-rata (pay only for what is delivered). You pay only for the days, classes or items you got. Days are counted automatically. For other things, like classes or boxes, the provider marks each one done. You can see the count in the app.
The terms at the time you booked are the ones that apply, even if the provider changes them later.
A pro-rata example
You book 10 days of tiffin for ₹1,500. The cook starts on Monday. You cancel on Thursday. Monday to Thursday count as delivered — the day you cancel also counts. So 6 days are left, and you get back ₹900.
See a full 30-day example, day by day: Booked 30 days of dog walking? How pro-rata refunds work.
When the order is cancelled for you
- The provider says no to your request, or does not reply in time — you pay nothing.
- You have paid, but the provider does not tap “Start work” in time. You get the full order amount back.
If you cancel while the work is going on, the provider is told immediately to stop.
Cancelling is not the same as raising a problem
If the provider did not do the work, did it badly, or did not come, don’t cancel. Instead, raise a problem from the order within 3 days of it being marked done. Your money stays on hold, and the Brouz team decides what is fair.
Did you cancel during the work, and feel the amount the provider kept is not fair? You can raise a problem about that too, within 3 days.
When the money comes back
Refunds go back to the way you paid — your UPI app, card or bank account. They usually reach you in 5–7 working days, depending on your bank.
In short
- Cancel before work starts: you get the full order amount back.
- Just after work starts: still the full amount, for a short time.
- After that: the listing’s cancellation terms apply. You see them before you book.
- The service charge is not refunded.
- Work not done properly? Raise a problem instead of cancelling.
